Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

Short version: ZenRead is a personal reading journal. Use it for your own reading life, keep it lawful, and it's yours to enjoy. Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription billed through Google Play — you can cancel anytime in the Play Store. Your library belongs to you; we just help you keep and connect it.

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using ZenRead ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. These terms apply to both the free and Pro tiers.

2. The Service

ZenRead is a reading journal that lets you track books, capture quotes (by typing, scanning an ISBN barcode, or photographing a page), organize them into collections, and — with Pro — connect them across your library and sync between devices. The free tier works entirely on your device and offline.

3. Your Content

Your library — the books, quotes, and notes you add — is yours. We claim no ownership of it. On the free tier it stays on your device. If you subscribe to Pro, a copy is stored on our server solely to enable backup and cross-device sync, and you can delete it at any time (see Privacy Policy → Data Deletion).

You are responsible for the content you store. Don't use ZenRead to store or share anything unlawful, or to infringe the rights of others.

4. Pro Subscription & Billing

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

6. Third-Party Services

ZenRead relies on third-party services including Google Play (billing and sign-in) and public book-metadata sources (for cover images and ISBN lookup). Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or content.

7. Disclaimer

ZenRead is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep the app and your synced data available and accurate, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Always keep your own backups of anything irreplaceable.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ZenRead and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Termination

You may stop using ZenRead at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete account. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms. On termination, your right to use the app ends; the relevant Privacy Policy provisions on data deletion continue to apply.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
